That feeling of, this is the day I’ve been waiting for.

The first morning I can sit outside with my coffee, feel the warmth of the sun on my face, and remember that winter does not, in fact, last forever.🌞 I know to some the grass isn’t even quite there yet, its not super warm, but for us Northern Canadians this is DREAMY for APRIL!

If you look close life is upon us… It’s the first peek of life for some of my plants in my garden areas, my little columbine blooming under the snow melt that was just here last week.

If you live in the north, you know exactly what I mean.

There is something about long winter days — the gray, the cold, the darkness coming early, the months and months of being tucked inside — that gets into you after a while. And for some people, it’s more than just “ugh, I’m over winter.” There’s even a name for the more serious version of that pattern: seasonal affective disorder, or SAD, which is linked to reduced daylight during the darker months.

I think a lot of us know the feeling of coming through a long season and realizing how much we’ve been carrying.

And not just in our bodies. In our minds. In our homes. In our nervous systems. In the background of our lives.

This morning, sitting there with my coffee, I had that thought so clearly:

Oh. Relief matters.

When the sun hits your face. ( ahhh, it felt amazing)
When the room is finally cleared.
When the pile is gone.
When the thought that has been looping finally quiets down.
When you can breathe again in your own life.

That is a lot of what Big Life Declutter is about.

It’s about relief.

Real relief.

Because clutter is never just clutter.

I’ve spent the last year really reducing clutter in every area of my life, and while I’ve been doing versions of this work for years, something about this year felt different. I became so aware of all the little places things collect—the corners, the piles, the drawers, the nooks and crannies, the quiet accumulation of things left unattended—and somewhere in the middle of all of that, I had this thought: this physical clutter is in my mind too.

And that realization stayed with me, because I’ve found so much joy in gently self-coaching myself through that clearing, not just because of what leaves, but because of what comes after. The relief of it. The lightness. The way your mind feels when there’s more space inside of you.

And that’s what I want for you too!

It’s not just the overstuffed closet.
The doom piles on the counters.
The rooms you keep shutting the door on.
The drawer you avoid opening because they are jammed… ( yup, that was my kitchen )

It’s also the thought loops.
The low-grade dread and avoidance
The unfinished projects and decisions.
The inner noise.
The stories your mind keeps handing you on repeat.

It’s the mind trash and the physical trash.
The emotional buildup and the visual overload, until one day you do notice it.

And you realize how much energy it has been taking just to live inside it.

I wanted to take a moment to pop in because I’ve been a little quiet this week, and honestly, I’ve missed being here with you. This space means so much to me—a place for dreaming again, nurturing mental wellness, and staying inspired—and I’ve been reflecting on how grateful I am for this community.

As many of you know, we recently wrapped up the 30-Day Inspired Action Challenge. (What a journey that was!) During the challenge, I shared a little dream I had—starting a baking side hustle. It wasn’t something I’d planned on turning into a big thing, just a joyful passion project that brought together creativity and happiness for me.

Well... let me tell you, when you follow what lights you up, the universe has a way of surprising you.

This week, I stepped out of my comfort zone and reached out to a local business to see if they would be interested in selling my baked goods. I wasn’t sure what they’d say, but I decided to follow that nudge anyway. And guess what? They were so excited—turns out they’d been looking for someone doing exactly what I do, something unique and one of a kind.

I was blown away.

It’s like this small dream of mine suddenly grew wings, and I’ve been creating up a storm ever since! This week has been a whirlwind of baking, decorating, and trying new things—but it’s also been one of the most fulfilling weeks I’ve had in a long time. I even got an order for a child’s birthday party (Minecraft-themed cookies, if you’re curious 👩🏼‍🍳).

And here’s what I realized: when we give ourselves permission to do the things that light us up, we create space for magic to happen.

We’re Not Meant to Live in Boxes

So often, we put ourselves in these little boxes. We tell ourselves:

• You can’t possibly do more than one thing at a time.

• Your dreams don’t make sense, so why bother?

• You’ll get to it “someday” when life slows down.

But here’s the thing: when we deny ourselves the things we truly want—the things that make us feel alive—our body and mind will always feel like something is missing.

I told myself for so long: I’m a professional counsellor and coach, that’s my work. I can’t add “baker” or “creator” to my plate—it’s too much. But then I realized…I can do many things. I can give myself permission to try anything that brings me joy. We all can.

For me, creating—whether it’s baking, writing, or dreaming up new ideas—is where I find my happy place. It’s where I reconnect with myself. And this week reminded me how important it is to follow where your heart leads you, even if it doesn’t make sense on paper, even if it feels a little scary, even if it’s not the thing you thought you were “supposed” to be doing.

Because you just don’t know what doors will open when you finally say yes to yourself.

Follow the Nudges

And on the flip side? If something feels off, that’s a sign too. If you’re forcing something, dragging yourself through the day, or trying to fit into a box that doesn’t feel like home, listen to that.

Your heart is always trying to tell you something. Follow the nudge, even if it feels small or uncertain.

This is your reminder: dream again. Let yourself want what you want. Give yourself permission to pursue something just because it makes you happy. Whether it’s starting a side hustle, diving into a creative project, or simply carving out time to reconnect with yourself—it all matters.

SO DO THE THING. TRY IT. DREAM IT. GO FOR IT. You never know what or who you’ll meet through your passions, your joy, or those universal (or God-given) nudges. Follow it all. What sticks will stick.

This community is about more than just taking action—it’s about creating a life that feels good from the inside out. And I’m so grateful to be on this journey with all of you.

Book Recommendation: The Well-Lived Life by Dr. Gladys McGarey

I have to share a book that has been such a gift to me: The Well-Lived Life: A 102-Year-Old Doctor’s Six Secrets to Health and Happiness at Every Age by Dr. Gladys McGarey. (She was 103 when the book came out, and I think she might even be 104 now!)

This book is one I’ve read more than once—I’m actually on my second round right now because it’s that good. Dr. McGarey’s wisdom is timeless, and her perspective on life, joy, and resilience is so grounding and inspiring. She shows how we can approach each season of life with curiosity and purpose, no matter where we are or what we’re going through.

One of the biggest takeaways for me was her reminder that it’s never too late to live a life filled with meaning. Her words feel like a gentle nudge to reflect, dream, and take action in ways that align with what truly matters to us.

If you’re looking for a book that will fill your heart, challenge your perspective, and inspire you to embrace life at every age, I can’t recommend this one enough. It’s the kind of book you’ll want to savour, highlight, and return to whenever you need a little extra encouragement.

As I walk through my garden, I’m reminded of those precious childhood moments with my grandma. Her hands, weathered yet gentle, guiding mine as we picked fresh raspberries under the summer sun.

It’s in the quiet rhythm of planting seeds, tending the soil, and watching life grow that I find healing.

Gardening has become my sanctuary—a way to feel grounded, connected, and alive. It’s more than just food on the table; it’s a reminder of where I’ve been and where I’m going.

The dirt under my nails feels like home, and the fruits of my labor carry the love and wisdom of generations before me. 🍓🌾

There’s something deeply therapeutic about putting your hands into the earth. The act of gardening connects us to something far greater than ourselves. For me, it’s a tangible escape from the overstimulation of daily life—a way to quiet the noise and simply be.

Research even backs this up: studies show that being in nature can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve mental clarity.

The simple act of planting seeds and nurturing them mirrors our own personal growth. It reminds us that progress isn’t always visible; sometimes, the most meaningful transformations happen below the surface.

When I tend to my garden, I find myself letting go of perfectionism. Plants don’t rush; they don’t strive for unattainable goals. They grow at their own pace, in their own time. Gardening has taught me patience and the importance of being present. It’s a reminder that healing isn’t linear—it’s seasonal. Some seasons are for growth, others for rest, and that’s okay.

Food as a Bridge to the Past …

Cooking from the garden is more than just a practical way to nourish my body; it’s a way to connect with the fondest memories of my childhood. I can still see my grandma, her apron dusted with flour, smiling as she prepared meals from the garden’s bounty. She taught me that food is love, and every meal was an act of care and intention.

When I pull a handful of raspberries from the bush, I’m transported back to those sunlit afternoons with her. The taste of fresh, homegrown food is a portal—it carries nostalgia, warmth, and the essence of home.

What I’ve come to realize is that the act of growing and preparing food is a form of meditation. Washing greens, chopping vegetables, or kneading dough slows me down and brings me into the moment. It’s a practice that nourishes more than just the body; it feeds the soul.

This process also brings a sense of accomplishment. There’s something profoundly empowering about knowing that I’ve grown the food on my plate. It’s a reminder of my ability to create, nurture, and thrive—even in uncertain times.

Why do we self-sabotage the very dreams we long for?

Have you ever noticed how sometimes… the very moment you start moving toward a dream, you find yourself pulling back, or distracting yourself? Watch this.

Maybe you talk yourself out of it.

The other reason is that as we get older, our purpose and calling shift. They shift through wisdom and understanding gained. They shift through trauma and wounds. When we are confused about what that means anymore, we can also self-sabotage our dreams.

But those dreams never really go away.
Some are buried so deep we forget they exist, but they are always tugging at our heartstrings.

Others tug at our hearts for years, whispering, “Don’t forget me.”

Both kinds of dreams matter. And both deserve to be honored.

I have a confession to make.

I’m one of those people who gets really excited about new ideas. I’ll wake up in the middle of the night with a new concept or scribble a brilliant plan on the back of a Walmart receipt. My journal is overflowing with dreams and projects that, at the time, felt like the one.

But here’s the hard truth I’ve had to face.

For all the ideas I’ve had, there are so many I’ve never followed through on.

And it’s not because I didn’t care about them. It’s because I cared too much. I wanted everything I created to be perfect, and when I couldn’t figure out how to make it perfect, I would freeze. I get overwhelmed. I used to move on to the next shiny idea, hoping this time would be different.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because so many of us creative, multi-passionate people struggle with this.

We’re idea machines. 👀We have notebooks filled with visions for books, businesses, art, projects, and plans. And yet, so many of those dreams never make it out of our heads.

And here’s something I didn’t realize for a long time: That cycle of starting and stopping isn’t just a personality quirk. It’s something many of us share, especially those of us with ADHD or creative, nonlinear minds.

In fact, research from the ADHD Association and the World Economic Forum shows that nearly 40% of entrepreneurs have ADHD tendencies. We’re wired for big ideas, for novelty, for passion. But we’re also wired to struggle with follow-through, focus, and, yes, perfectionism.💛

Another study published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences found that people with ADHD are significantly more likely to be highly creative. But that creativity often comes with challenges, like difficulty organizing or finishing long-term projects.

For a long time, I beat myself up about this. I thought, “What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I just finish what I start like everyone else?”

But here’s what I’ve learned: There’s nothing wrong with having a busy, buzzing brain full of ideas. The problem only comes when we let perfectionism and overwhelm stop us from taking that first step.

And that’s why I created the 30-Day Inspired Action Camp for people over 40 who know they need to be starting the next chapter differently.
